Scream 3 | Filming locations

Hollywood, Los Angeles, California—a place where dreams and nightmares collide. Explore the haunted and iconic locations featured in Scream 3 with this virtual guide, taking you behind the scenes of the film’s memorable settings.

The Hollywood Sign

The film opens with a sweeping shot of this iconic symbol of cinema. Originally, the Hollywood Sign read “Hollywoodland” and served as an advertisement. Its history is marked by a dark moment when actress Peg Entwistle tragically jumped from the “H” in 1932. Early drafts of Scream 3 mirrored this eerie event, with a crime scene at the sign.

Griffith Park, southeast of Mount Lee, Los Angeles, California.

101 Freeway

Cotton Weary’s fateful encounter begins with a traffic jam that was actually filmed on Shoreline Drive, a popular filming location also used in Clueless (1995). The chase transitions onto the real 101 Freeway, featuring landmarks like the Capitol Records Building and Hollywood Boulevard.

Shoreline Drive, Long Beach, Los Angeles, California.

Cotton Weary’s House

This 1929 Spanish baroque home, originally built for silent film stars Norma Talmadge and Gilbert Roland, served as Cotton’s residence. While most scenes were filmed on location, parts were recreated on the CBS Soundstage for Cotton’s dramatic death scene.

1336 North Harper Avenue, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.

“Faces of Jorunalism” Lecture

The lecture scene where Gale Weathers confronts her past was filmed in Moore Hall at UCLA, one of the university’s most frequently used spots for filming, including scenes from Scream 2.

Moore Hall (Moore 100, UCLA), 457 Portola Plaza, Westwood, Los Angeles, California.

Sunrise Studios

The fictional Sunrise Studios where much of the action unfolds was filmed at CBS Studio Center. The soundstage also served as the rebuilt Woodsboro set.

Le Pain Quotidien (Replay Cafe)

The quaint café where Gale and Dewey share pivotal moments used to be known as Replay Café during filming. Today, it operates as Le Pain Quotidien.

Jennifer Jolie’s House

Jennifer’s hilltop retreat offers sweeping views of Los Angeles. This versatile location has hosted numerous film and TV productions and is often used for exclusive events.

LAPD Office

The interior scenes of Detective Mark Kincaid’s office were shot in what was, at the time, a recently decommissioned LAPD station in North Hollywood.

North Hollywood Police Station, 11480 Tiara Street, North Hollywood, California.

John Milton’s Office

The sleek, industrial aesthetic of the American Cement Building made it the perfect choice for John Milton’s shady Hollywood office. There you can appreciate the MacArthur Park.

John Milton’s Mansion

The sprawling mansion where the film’s climax unfolds has a storied history. Designed in 1923 for silent film star Antonio Moreno and oil heiress Daisy Canfield Danziger, the estate has also appeared in Halloween: H20 and The Neon Demon.

The Paramour Estate, 1923 Micheltorena Street, Silver Lake, Los Angeles, California.

Sidney Prescott’s Hideway

Sidney’s secluded retreat offers a sense of isolation fitting for her character’s arc. This private property, which occasionally appears on AirBnB, is nestled deep in the hills of Topanga. Thanks to Creepy Catalog for pointing out the AirBnB link!
