Rules for Surviving a Horror Movie
“There are certain rules that one must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie. For instance: Number one, you can never have sex. Big no-no! Big no-no! Sex equals death, okay? Number two, you can never drink or do drugs. The sin factor! It’s a sin. It’s an extension of number one. And number three: Never, ever, ever, under any circumstances say, ‘I’ll be right back,’ because you won’t be back.” – Randy Meeks
Plot Overview
Woodsboro, a quiet town in California, is gripped by terror. A masked killer is systematically targeting the local teens, using horror movie tropes as his twisted inspiration. To survive, the residents must follow the unwritten rules of the genre.
At the center of the chaos is Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), a high school student facing more than just the usual teenage troubles. As the anniversary of her mother’s tragic murder approaches, Sidney finds herself the primary target of the killer. Adding to her distress, her boyfriend Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) is pressuring her to take their relationship to the next level, and a sensationalist tabloid reporter, Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), returns to Woodsboro determined to uncover the secrets surrounding the murders—no matter what it takes, even if it means digging into Sidney’s painful past.
Sidney’s only comfort comes from her close-knit circle of friends: the feisty Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan), her boyfriend Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard), the horror-savvy Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy), and the well-meaning but clumsy Deputy Dewey Riley (David Arquette). But as the body count rises and secrets unravel, solving the mystery may prove as deadly as the killer’s blade.
Solving this mystery is going to be murder.
