Neve Campbell is the talk of the town with her upcoming return as Sidney Prescott in ‘Scream 7‘. This excitement has sparked two new articles on People Magazine highlighting other horror icons. Fans have always wondered about Anna Faris‘ interactions with the real Sidney, whom she parodied in ‘Scary Movie,’ and what one of Wes Craven‘s beloved final girls, Heather Langenkamp, thinks about the resurgence of legacy characters in horror.
Anna Faris, known for her comedic role as Cindy Campbell in the ‘Scary Movie‘ franchise, reflected on her interactions with the stars she spoofed. “I met Neve at auditions and felt the need to apologize, but she was so lovely,” Faris recalled. “Jennifer Love Hewitt even sent me flowers after the first movie. It was really nice.” , she revealed about the star of ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer‘, that is also getting a requel.
Faris emphasized that her parodies were intended to be funny without being disrespectful. “My goal was always to play my character in a way that was humorous but respectful. I never wanted anyone to feel mocked,” she said.
Despite stepping away from ‘Scary Movie 5‘, Faris is open to returning for future installments if the conditions are right. “I would love to work with Regina Hall again. We made each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina,” she quipped.
A small piece of advice since ‘Scary Movie 6‘ is in the works: you cannot do a Scary Movie without Brenda and Cindy!
Heather Langenkamp, famous for her role as Nancy Thompson in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street‘, applauds the resurgence of horror icons like Campbell and Jamie Lee Curtis. “It’s such good news to see these characters return. It shows that horror has enduring appeal and that audiences still connect with these stories,” she said.
Langenkamp is open to returning to her iconic role in a new Nightmare sequel. “I’ve portrayed Nancy at different stages of my life, and it would be fascinating to explore her character now. There are always new stories to tell and challenges to face,” she added.
Langenkamp appreciates how legacy characters can evolve over time, noting that playing such a strong character leaves a lasting impact. “Once you’ve played such a strong character, like Sidney or Laurie, that character really never leaves you. Young actors often put much of themselves into their roles, and as we get older, we still feel a lot like them,” she explained.
Neve Campbell’s return to the ‘Scream‘ franchise has fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter. Reflecting on her journey as Sidney Prescott, Campbell expressed her gratitude for the support she has received over the years. “The fans’ support has been overwhelming, and it feels incredible to be back. This franchise means so much to so many people, and their love and dedication are truly special.”
With Kevin Williamson at the helm, Campbell is confident in the direction of the upcoming film. “Kevin is phenomenal. This is his creation, and he understands it deeply. I’m excited for what’s to come.”
