I’m not spilling any secrets here, but I recently had access to some audition tapes from Scream 4, featuring a few actors who didn’t make the final cut reading casting sides. Due to legal and ethical concerns, I can’t share the footage directly. However, I can confirm that the tone and dialogue in these scenes capture Kevin Williamson at his best.
During the casting process, pages leaked online, giving fans a peek into the movie’s vibe. While it’s unclear if the scenes in these audition tapes will appear in the final cut, they showcase the razor-sharp wit we love from Williamson.
The tapes I found include scenes for Jill Kessler, Rebecca Walters, Kirby Reed, and Charlie Walker. Each audition featured a classic “Scream” moment: actors were asked to recreate the infamous “killer reveal” scene from the first movie, where Billy and Stu reveal their motives to Sidney. It’s Scream tradition, after all—you’re never fully prepared for a Scream film unless you’re ready to play the villain.
From what I’ve seen, Kirby Reed is poised to become a fan favorite. Her sarcastic, horror-savvy persona is likely to steal scenes. And Rebecca Walters? We’ll definitely love to hate her.
Kirby: “Wanna watch a movie?”
Charlie: “OK. What?”
Kirby: “No torture porn, shaky cam, docu-horror, manga-techno, ghost girl, Rob Zombie, 3D or PG-13 remake sh*t-ola. And it can’t be directed by M. Night Shml-shit!… OK, decision time. Friday the 13th or Texas Chainsaw Massacre?”
Charlie: “Originals or remakes?”
Kirby: “Do I look like a Michael Bay fan to you?”
In another scene, Rebecca (Alison Brie) has a fangirl moment with Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox):
Rebecca: “Excuse me! I have to geek out! It is such an honor to meet you. Rebecca Walters. When I was a kid, it was all about Gale Weathers, Top Story. You were my ‘90s.”
Gale: “It’s Gale Riley now.”
Rebecca: “Oh! Yeah! You gave it all up for love… that’s so not me.”
And there’s more! The sides include scenes with Jill Kessler and her ex, Trevor, as well as Charlie being interrogated by Dewey, discussing the legacy of the Stab movies.
Happy hunting, Scream fans! These teasers showcase Kevin Williamson’s return to form, promising dialogue that’s both razor-sharp and painfully funny.
