Mortal Kombat 1: Skeet Ulrich Is Back as Billy Loomis!

Explore how the game ties into Scream lore with thrilling movie references, classic Ghostface moveset, Roger L. Jackson’s voice and Skeet Ulrich’s looks.

Since Ghostface slashed his way into Mortal Kombat 1 last month, Scream fans have been basking in some incredible fan service. Not only did the game deliver Ghostface, but it packed in plenty of nods to the films—from Roger L. Jackson’s chilling voicework to meta references, moves and quotes. But the real shocker? A killer reveal of Billy Loomis as the killer behind the mask, with Skeet Ulrich’s face.

For the first time in gaming history, Ghostface’s identity ties directly to the Scream franchise, making this crossover a love letter to slasher fans and gamers alike.

Skeet Ulrich Is Back as Billy Loomis

Ulrich, now lending his looks to Billy Loomis for the fourth time, via motion capture, shared his excitement about reprising the role via Instagram stories. His performance captures Billy’s signature unhinged menace, perfectly blending with the game’s over-the-top gore. In a game first, Ghostface’s Fatalities and Final Blow animations feature him removing the mask to reveal Billy Loomis, cementing his place as the definitive Ghostface in Mortal Kombat 1.

A Moveset That Screams Nostalgia

Ghostface’s gameplay is a tribute to his cinematic roots. Armed with his iconic knife, he delivers rapid, precision-based attacks, while his Fatalities and taunts overflow with Scream, Scream (2022) and Scream VI references. One standout moment? Ghostface stabbing Johnny Cage in a perfectly meta twist.

The game also introduces accomplices Kira and Kobra, members of Mortal Kombat’s Black Dragon clan, adding a fresh spin on the franchise’s tradition of multiple Ghostface killers.

Is Stu Macher Next?

While Billy Loomis came through, fans are already speculating about Stu Macher’s possible inclusion, since he is referenced in dialogues. Matthew Lillard, who’s openly expressed love for his Scream character, feels like a natural fit for Mortal Kombat’s future DLCs. Could Stu join the roster? For now, Billy leads the charge, but with Mortal Kombat’s penchant for surprises, anything’s possible in this blood-soaked crossover.
