Filming for Scream 7 is in full swing in Atlanta, Georgia, with scenes being shot around Marietta and Douglasville, in addition to interior sequences at Great Point Studios. Production is expected to continue until March 12, before the film moves into post-production.
Over the past few weeks, locals, fans, and paparazzi have captured some exciting photos, revealing intriguing details about the new movie.
Pine Grove, Indiana: The Setting of Scream 7
The Craven Something Scary and Atlanta Filming teams shared some fascinating images of the small town that serves as the backdrop for Scream 7. The streets are decorated with posters, signs, and autumn-themed ornaments, confirming that the story takes place in the fictional Pine Grove, Indiana.
One of the most telling set details? The local high school is promoting a play titled “The Fairy Princess,” scheduled for November 27-30. This confirms that the movie takes place in the fall, likely just a few weeks before Thanksgiving.
But here’s where things get even more intriguing. At MegaCon Orlando, Matthew Lillard dropped a cryptic comment about Scream 7, saying:
“I come back as a fairy godmother. It’s gonna slay.”
Given that a high school play about a fairy princess is featured in Scream 7, could this be more than just a coincidence? Lillard has long been at the center of speculation regarding Stu Macher’s mysterious return, and his words only fuel the fire. Whether he meant it literally, sarcastically, or as an inside joke remains unknown—but considering the franchise’s love for meta layers, this could be a clever way to tease something.
First Look at Pine Grove’s Landmarks
Soon after, the Instagram account Atlanta Filming also shared additional set photos, including a glimpse of:
📍 A local restaurant and market in Pine Grove
📽️ The town’s theater marquee featuring The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – could this be just an Easter egg, or does it tie into the plot? Either way, one thing is certain: Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) could likely be rewatching this horror classic.
🏛️ A tribute to Ron Lynch, producer of Scream (2022) and Scream VI, who passed away last year. In the film’s universe, Lynch is running for mayor of Pine Grove—a subtle but touching nod from the production team.
Additionally, Atlanta Filming shared aerial views from Google Earth, revealing residential areas where some scenes were filmed—potentially where Sidney and other characters live.

You’re probably wondering… What about the actors?
Since the first Scream sequels, after multiple set leaks during external shoots, security measures have doubled to prevent major spoilers. Still, one small leak managed to slip through—giving us our first look at Ghostface in action.

The Kevin Williamson Universe Connection
Last week, Anna Camp posted an Instagram Story during a break in filming. Fortunately for us, she tagged Covington, Georgia—a location horror fans might recognize.
Covington previously served as Mystic Falls in The Vampire Diaries and Legacies, making this a fun connection to Kevin Williamson’s past projects.
Georgia is no stranger to the world of Kevin Williamson. The city of Atlanta previously served as a filming location for his thriller series The Following, and Scream 2.
In fact, most of the exterior shots of Windsor College—where Sidney Prescott faced off against Ghostface in the sequel—were filmed here. With Scream 7 now joining the list, the Peach State continues to play a significant role in the franchise’s history.
More Set Footage from Dallas, Georgia
Another Scream 7 filming location? Dallas, Georgia, where additional props, posters, and police vehicles were spotted.
- One standout detail: Pine Grove’s main square is officially named “Craven Plaza”—a fitting tribute to the late Wes Craven.
🎬 Kevin Williamson Spotted Directing!
Another incredible find—franchise creator Kevin Williamson was seen directing on set, alongside a crew member.
- Fans also got their first look at Isabel May, who surprisingly kept her signature blonde hair for the role.
Cast Bonding Moments in Atlanta
While production is in full swing, some of Scream 7‘s cast members have been sharing glimpses of their off-screen fun in Atlanta on social media. Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Victor Turpin, Sam Rechner, Asa Germann, and McKenna Grace posted moments together, showing they’re enjoying their time outside of filming. Whether this hints at a strong on-screen dynamic between their characters or just reflects their growing off-set friendship, one thing is certain—this cast is having a blast while bringing the next chapter of Scream to life.
What’s Next?
With a few more days of filming to go, more surprises may still emerge. So, stay tuned!
Scream 7 is set to hit theaters on February 27, 2026.
