Still Screaming reveals alternate opening sequences for Scream 3. Learn about Kevin Williamson’s original ideas and unused scenes!
A fascinating preview from the upcoming documentary Still Screaming dives into the creative process behind Scream 3‘s multiple opening sequences. The video features insights from Scream saga editor Patrick Lussier and Scream 3 screenwriter Ehren Kruger, shedding light on the variations explored before settling on the final version.
“This is as much about the multiple endings of Scream 3 as it was about multiple beginnings,” Lussier explains. He recalls a discarded concept involving an actor, Ben Damon, receiving a call from the killer hiding inside the trunk of a car—an idea brimming with tension and terror.
Kruger also shares Kevin Williamson’s original vision for the opening:
“There was an early version in Kevin’s original treatment where the opening sequence was Sidney (Neve Campbell) and a friend being attacked at home, and then Sidney ultimately killing the killer and unmasking the killer as some fan. This drives her into hiding.”
These glimpses of what could have been offer a deeper appreciation for the franchise’s creative evolution and how its twists and turns continue to captivate fans.
