The Scream 4 DVD and Blu-Ray cover art has been officially revealed! Yesterday, DVDActive.com shared the designs for the highly anticipated release, confirming the movie will hit shelves on October 4th, 2011. This update corrects earlier reports suggesting an October 8th release.

Distribution Complications

Fans hoping for a boxed set combining all four Scream films will have to wait. According to Bloody-Disgusting, copyright and distribution agreements complicate such a release:

“Miramax has a deal with Lionsgate Home Entertainment to distribute the first three Scream films. Meanwhile, The Weinstein Company partnered with Anchor Bay for its titles. As a result, Scream 4 and any future sequels will be distributed on DVD and Blu-Ray by Anchor Bay.”

This separation of rights makes a comprehensive collection unlikely in the near future.
