The ‘Scream Trilogy‘ served as a significant launchpad for many young actors in the 90s, and Liev Schreiber was one of the lucky few to benefit from it.
Now an established star in film and television, particularly in ‘Ray Donovan‘, Schreiber reflected on his early career. He recounted how he got the role of Cotton Weary: “Bob Weinstein, a theatre fan, called me into his office and offered me a part. I was $70,000 in debt from student loans, looking for any job. He told me all I had to do was walk down some stairs and get into a police car. Twenty seconds. Twenty grand. I was like, ‘I’m yours.’”
Schreiber described the experience as surreal, noting, “They flew me to Los Angeles first class. I couldn’t believe it. It turned into a huge phenomenon, and they kindly offered me a role in the second film.”
By the time the third installment arrived, Schreiber was ready for a change. “I was like, ‘Alright, can you kill me now?’ Not because I was tired of the series, but I thought it would be fun to get covered in blood,” he explained. Reflecting on his journey, he concluded, “I owe them a lot. I never thought I’d get anywhere near that kind of world—I wouldn’t be talking to you without it.”
