Brazilian fandoms are a force to be reckoned with, and the electrifying atmosphere at São Paulo’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP24) proved it once again. With a massive and passionate audience, the convention celebrated not only upcoming projects but also the enduring love for Scream alumni.
Although there wasn’t a specific panel for Scream 7, the event saw the presence of three franchise stars who took center stage for their latest projects:
The Love That Brought Tears
Brazilian fans’ boundless energy left the visiting stars overwhelmed. Behind-the-scenes footage released by Paramount Plus captured Jasmin Savoy Brown’s amazement at the roaring applause during the Yellowjackets panel. The unfiltered love from the audience was so moving that it brought Sarah Michelle Gellar to tears during the Dexter: Original Sin panel, where she received a standing ovation and several minutes of uninterrupted applause.
Patrick Dempsey on Mark Kincaid vs. Aaron Spencer
Also, during the Dexter: Original Sin panel, Patrick Dempsey was asked if there were any similarities between his character in Scream 3 and his role in the series. His response? “Both are uptight.” This comment drew laughs from the crowd, showcasing his charm and humor.
Ghostface Everywhere!
With this alignment of Scream stars, the event wouldn’t be complete without Ghostface, and CCXP24 didn’t disappoint. Cosplayers donned the iconic mask in full force, bringing a touch of Woodsboro to São Paulo. Warner Bros. Games also spotlighted Ghostface heavily at their booth, promoting Mortal Kombat 1, in which the masked killer slashes his way through the competition.
Behind-the-Scenes Insight
Our friend and collaborator Roberto Carvalho Neto was on-site to capture these unforgettable moments. His photos showcased the palpable energy of the crowd and the stunning displays honoring the legacy of Scream and its stars. Beto summed up the experience beautifully:
“Brazil loves Scream, and it also loves Grey’s Anatomy, Buffy, Scooby-Doo, and I Know What You Did Last Summer. We made sure to show our love and admiration, making this event memorable for everyone in the cast and ensuring they have the best memories of our country.”
Brazil’s adoration for Scream has never been more evident, and CCXP24 was yet another reminder that Ghostface—and the franchise’s alumni—will always have a home in the hearts of Brazilian fans.
