The Darkest Side of Scream 4

Wes Craven teases Scream 4 enhancements: two key scenes are being reworked to amp up the tension, but the ending remains untouched.

Wes Craven spilled some tantalizing details about Scream 4 to Entertainment Weekly. We’re not sure what magic journalist Tim Sacks has over Craven, but he always manages to get the best scoops:

They’re not reshoots,” Craven clarified from the snowy set in Detroit. “We had a couple test screenings and saw two scenes where they had moments you could add to, and we just saw a spectacular opportunity. Bob [Weinstein] basically said to me, ‘You go to your dark side, and I’ll give you the money!’ [Laughs]. The two scenes were really good, but we saw how they could be spectacular, so we thought, let’s just go for it. They were key moments of the script, so we decided to go for the grand slam on them.

Rumors that the ending was being changed? Don’t believe the hype.

No, the ending is totally kick-ass,” Craven stated firmly. “We’re not gonna touch that. [The scenes being added to are] one scene that’s kind of in the late beginning and one scene that’s a little bit later.

Based on this revelation (and some serious trailer analysis, because that’s what Scream fans do best), it seems like Craven and his team are enhancing Alison Brie’s heart-stopping parking garage attack scene, along with Aimee Teegarden and Brittany Robertson’s chilling face-off with Ghostface.

With Craven diving into his darkest depths, these updates sound like the perfect way to elevate the scares. April 15th can’t come soon enough!
