Although she doesn’t appear in the Scream 4 trailer, Aimee Teegarden’s involvement has fans buzzing about her potential role in the highly anticipated sequel. Fresh off projects like Friday Night Lights and Disney’s Prom, Teegarden sat down at Kelly Nishimoto’s 5th Anniversary Fashion Event to discuss her recent whirlwind of work—and, of course, her experiences on the set of Scream 4.
Reflecting on her packed schedule, Teegarden said, “I just finished up Scream 4, so I’ve kind of had a busy couple of months. Those will all be out April 15th for Scream 4 and April 29th for Prom.” She also shared her excitement about working on such an iconic franchise: “Scream 4 was amazing. I got to work with Wes Craven—so iconic—and a bunch of the other actors on it. It was a lot of fun. We shot out in Michigan, and I was there for a bit. It’s going to be amazing. The trailer just came out, and the movie poster went up a couple weeks ago. So, it’s kind of surreal to be in something so iconic as Scream.”
A fan of horror movies herself, Teegarden admitted that while she enjoys the genre, it sometimes leaves a lingering impression. “I like horror movies. I can’t necessarily watch too many in a row, because then I get a little freaked out. Do I scream when I watch horror movies? It’s not so much the screaming. It’s like the dreams and the creaks and the floorboards after I watch the movie in the nighttime. I get a little freaked out.”
In addition to her work on Scream 4, Teegarden spoke about her other upcoming project, Prom, a coming-of-age Disney film that she describes as “very reminiscent of John Hughes in the ’80s, like The Breakfast Club or Pretty in Pink. It’s kind of a grittier, timeless feel to it.”
Teegarden also shared a bit about her own high school experience, which she says contrasts sharply with the confident characters she plays. “I wasn’t very popular. I was kind of a little dorky—a dorky middle schooler, too. I didn’t necessarily wear the right clothes or hang out with the right people, but I kind of, you know, went to my own drum.”
While details about her role in Scream 4 remain under wraps, Teegarden’s excitement and respect for the franchise—and its legendary director Wes Craven—promise a performance that will have horror fans watching closely.
