Jasmin Savoy Brown returns as Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream 7, reuniting with Mason Gooding and representing the franchise’s strides in diversity.
Jasmin Savoy Brown is officially returning for Scream 7, reprising her beloved role as Mindy Meeks-Martin. Confirmed by Variety, the news thrilled fans of the Scream franchise who have embraced Mindy as a standout character in the series’ modern era. Known for her sharp humor, fearless energy, and meta-horror brilliance, Mindy has quickly become a fan favorite, embodying the franchise’s unique blend of scares and wit.
Mindy made history as the Scream franchise’s first openly queer character. Her inclusion, along with the diverse cast of the last two films, reflected a fresh direction for the series. This diversity resonated with audiences, breathing new life into the franchise while showcasing characters that better reflected the world today.
The Meeks-Martin
Brown won’t face Ghostface alone—her on-screen twin brother, Chad Meeks-Martin, played by Mason Gooding, will also return. The duo’s chemistry and familial bond brought depth and relatability to the high-stakes slasher chaos of the last two films. Together, they’ve kept their uncle Randy Meeks’ legacy alive while carving their own path in the Scream universe.
Yet, fans can’t help but notice the absence of the twins’ mother, Martha Meeks, played by Heather Matarazzo in Scream 3 and Scream (2022). Her return remains unconfirmed, leaving many hoping the entire Meeks-Martin family will finally share the screen in the latest installment.
A Modern Horror Icon
Jasmin Savoy Brown’s connection to the horror genre extends far beyond Scream. Her first major slasher role came in Scream (2022), where Mindy’s meta commentary and quick thinking stood out as a perfect tribute to Randy while establishing her own unique voice. In Scream VI, she further solidified her place as one of the franchise’s defining characters, showcasing Mindy’s mix of bravery and vulnerability in the face of relentless danger.
Brown’s slasher resume also includes Sound of Violence (2021), where she delivered a chilling performance as a trauma-driven composer navigating a violent path. Her acclaimed work as Taissa Turner in Showtime’s Yellowjackets highlights her range, portraying a character grappling with psychological torment and survival. With both Scream 7 and Yellowjackets Season 3 on the horizon, Brown continues to shine as a commanding force in the genre.
Under the direction of Kevin Williamson, Scream 7 began filming in Atlanta on January 7, 2025, and is scheduled to wrap on March 12, 2025. The highly anticipated slasher sequel will hit theaters on February 27, 2026.
