Marco Beltrami Returns to Score Scream 7

Without fanfare, Marco Beltrami revealed he’s scoring Scream 7—a surprising confirmation fans spotted in an Instagram exchange.

Scream 7’s resurrection tour isn’t just bringing back fan-favorite characters — it’s reconnecting the franchise with the creative forces that helped define the Wes Craven era.

Alongside the return of Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, David Arquette, screenwriter-turned-director Kevin Williamson, and the undying duo of Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, another core member of the original family is officially back: composer Marco Beltrami is scoring Scream 7.

Beltrami composed the first four films in the franchise, crafting some of its most iconic and emotionally resonant tracks — including “Sidney’s Lament” and “Trouble in Woodsboro.” His work gave Scream its distinct musical identity, one that fans still associate with the emotional weight and sharp turns of the original saga.

Beyond Scream, Beltrami collaborated with Wes Craven on three more films: Cursed, Red Eye, and My Soul to Take. His resume also includes genre staples like The Faculty, Resident Evil, Blade II, Hellboy, The Omen (2006), Warm Bodies, The Wolverine, Carrie (2013), Logan, and The Nun II. He earned a Golden Globe nomination for A Quiet Place and two Academy Award nominations for 3:10 to Yuma and The Hurt Locker.

While the news hasn’t yet been confirmed by the studio, Beltrami himself let it slip in the most 2020s way possible — by replying to a fan’s comment on Instagram asking for his return:

Don’t worry, I am.

Brian Tyler scored both Scream (2022) and Scream VI, delivering thrilling and polished compositions that even wove in some of Beltrami’s original themes. His contributions were well received, but for many fans, Beltrami’s return marks a true homecoming.

With Scream 7 currently in post-production, it’s only a matter of time before we hear the next haunting notes of Sidney’s theme.

The Sound of Scream: Beltrami’s Legacy on Vinyl and Disc

For longtime fans and soundtrack collectors, Marco Beltrami’s music isn’t just background — it’s a vital part of what made Scream feel so different, so cinematic, and so unforgettable.

Over the years, the scores for Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, and Scream 4 have been released in various formats — from CD to digital galleries — but few releases match the depth and quality of the 2022 collector’s edition by Varèse Sarabande.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original film, the label issued the most complete version of the Scream (1996) score to date, including never-before-released tracks that had only been heard in the film itself. Available on CD and limited-edition LP, this release featured newly remastered audio and expanded liner notes — a dream come true for completists.

From the delicate tension of “Sidney’s Lament” to the pulse-pounding chaos of Ghostface chase sequences, Beltrami’s compositions helped define the sound of modern slasher cinema. His return for Scream 7 is not just a nostalgic callback — it’s a powerful reconnection to the emotional and sonic heart of the franchise.
