Mason Gooding talks Scream 7, and his upcoming slasher film, ‘Heart Eyes’, releasing February 7, 2025.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Danny Directo, Mason Gooding offered a glimpse into his return as Chad Meeks-Martin in the highly anticipated Scream 7, currently filming in Atlanta. Gooding reflected on his close bond with co-star Jasmin Savoy Brown, who plays his on-screen twin, Mindy Meeks-Martin, and also is back for the seventh chapter. “The casting of Jasmin Savoy-Brown, as it relates to myself, was unknowingly basically being granted a sister,” Gooding revealed. “I check in with her all the time.” This real-life connection has translated into an on-screen dynamic that feels authentic and effortless. “Being able to step into a character that has been inundated with so much love on set and in general has allowed Jasmin and I to fall into a rhetoric that’s super comfortable for us,” he added.
Gooding also shared his thoughts on Neve Campbell’s return as Sidney Prescott, calling her “the godmother of the genre.” He expressed deep admiration for her contributions to the horror legacy: “She still, to this day, has always handled [it] with a level of ease and… care and stoicism.” Campbell’s return to the franchise has energized fans, and Gooding’s enthusiasm reflects the impact she’s had on shaping the slasher genre. “I could talk about Neve all day,” he said, clearly inspired by her enduring presence.
