Since the beginning of the production of Scream 4, the possibility of a new trilogy has been contemplated by Kevin Williamson and Wes Craven. Treatments of the script were delivered by phone to Bob Weinstein, who adored the concept idealized by the screenwriter. When interviewed by MTV, Craven revealed a little bit about what could happen next…

"I imagine the core characters will continue," he said of Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley. "I suspect they'll be with us until the end, because they just are the heart and soul of the movie and especially since we tend to kill off most of the other people," he said with a hearty laugh. "They'll be with us. There will be some continuation of the drama of Sidney Prescott's family and the ghosts that haunt it."

Hmmm… That reminded us of this Neil Prescott storyline that was aborted from Scream 4 – maybe because it was too good and needed more exploring on a new movie.
