SCREAM 6 will keep the delicious tradition of hiding easter eggs on the scenes for our cinephile pleasure. If you follow us on social networks, you probably have seen some photos of the filming in Montreal, earlier this year, that reference other scary movies and past SCREAM films.

Warning: Possible minor SCREAM 6 spoilers ahead! 

Keep your eyes open to connection with another creation of directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, screenwriter Guy Busick, and producer Chad Villella and James Vanderbilt that will be fun to spot. Instant classic READY OR NOT seemed to be everywhere on the set, and we are not even talking about having Samara Weaving and Henry Czerny on film.

“Le Domas Financial Group” and the moving company “Ready or Not” are some fictional signs around the recreated New York. But those aren’t the only nods to the 2019’s Radio Silence movie.

Canadian content creator Billie was cast as an extra for three scenes in the production, in which the storyline happens during Halloween. Her costume for the trick-or-treat party? The bloody bride, who was immortalized by Weaving.

Billie also described a bumpy subway chase scene that looks similar to what they did on FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN (1989).

“I had to shove Ghostface on the subway and we were trying to plan where best to put him and I just said ‘No, but if we put him there,’ I took the guy next to me and moved him. […] The guy in question was the director and I didn’t know it, everyone was super uncomfortable, but I think the director liked me because I was clumsy.”

“Fun fact: in the subway scene, they took a real subway car and created a way to make it move for real. It doesn’t just move in the windows, it moves for real, and when it shakes, it shakes for real! And the extras who fall, fall for real.“

SCREAM VI hits the theaters on March 10th, 2023.
