SCREAM’s global running total so far is impressive. See the detailed numbers and comparisons.
In its first weekend, Paramount‘s requel directed by the talented duo Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin has just hit the sensational mark of $48.6M combining domestic ($30.6M) and the international box office of 50 markets ($18M) with three days until Sunday. On Monday, $4M more was added to the domestic gross.
Deadline reports that the movie “landed No. 2 in the majority of its offshore openings, including the UK ($3.4M/622 locations), France ($1.8M/415), Australia ($1.5M/229), Russia ($1.3M/1,500 — biggest debut in the franchise) and Germany ($1.1M/452). The UAE opened at No. 1 with $310K from 66 sites.”
The results are 23% above the previous sequel, 2011’s SCREAM 4, and 57% above the most recent slasher flick Halloween Kills.
The original from 1996 amounted to $173M in its total run, SCREAM 2 went pretty close with $172,4M, SCREAM 3 did $161,8M, and SCREAM 4 had the biggest decrease with $97,2M.
The movie’s budget of $25M indicates a very profitable investment and the sequel talk buzzing should gain force in the following weeks.
