Box Office Update for Scream 4

Scream 4 earns $49 million globally but falls short domestically. Will these numbers be enough to secure a sequel?

Our friend John Valeri shared the latest box office results for Scream 4. After a promising opening weekend, the film experienced a predictable second-week decline, earning $7.2 million and landing in fifth place. Since its April 15 release, Scream 4 has accumulated approximately $31.2 million domestically—falling short of what Scream 3 achieved in its opening weekend back in 2000.

Globally, the numbers are slightly more encouraging. According to Box Office Mojo, Scream 4 has grossed $49,090,812 worldwide so far. Considering the production budget of $40 million, the film has technically broken even, but it has yet to reach the level of profitability required to guarantee another sequel.

For now, fans can only hope these numbers pick up over time. As they say, the final act isn’t over yet!
