SCREAM co-stars support Neve Campbell

Jamie Kennedy and Matthew Lillard speak about Hollywood inequality in defense of Neve Campbell.

Neve Campbell‘s statement on Monday (06), revealing she wouldn’t be part of the next SCREAM film, was followed by an intense reaction from the fans, industry, media, and her SCREAM co-stars.

As a woman, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to SCREAM, I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise,” the actress told Deadline.

David Arquette was the first one to weigh in:

I’d love for her to be a part of it. A SCREAM movie without Sidney is kind of unfortunate, but I understand her decision. It’s all a business in a way, they have to balance all these elements to fit a budget and produce a film.

Jamie Kennedy took his Youtube channel to an emotional testimony:

Can I tell you something about Neve? She is one of the most, if not the most pure-hearted person you’ll ever meet. She is a deep beautiful artistic soul. She gives herself 100% when she does something. Have you ever heard one bad thing about her? […] You see her in the news for her work!

Later, Matthew Lillard pondered the inequality of salaries over Twitter Spaces (time stamp 8:23 to 11:07):

Why is a woman supposed to take less? […] Why wouldn’t you pay her more as the series goes on? And SCREAM 5 [was] a hit or not a hit? It was a smash hit! […] Should Neve Campbell be paid for the work she’s done in five movies of the franchise? Yes, because she is a female lead of one of the most successful horror franchises. In fact, I think it’s the most successful horror franchise.

Thanks to the amazing Katie Sawyer from @MatthewLillardOnline for the info on Twitter Spaces.
