Ever since Scream 4 wrapped filming, rumors of Scream 5 have circulated. However, the lukewarm box office performance, and the behind-the-scenes drama of the fourth installment seemed to silence much of the chatter. Occasionally, though, the subject is revived—especially when icons like Wes Craven or Neve Campbell are in the spotlight.

Most recently, during the March 22 launch of YEAH (a platform for interactive movie experiences, featuring Scream), Craven shared a glimmer of hope for fans. When asked about his next project, he teased:

“Possibly Scream 5, who knows?”

While Craven’s statement isn’t a green light, it keeps the flame alive for fans eager to return to Woodsboro. The prospect of another chapter in the meta-slasher saga continues to inspire speculation and excitement across the Scream community.
