Courteney Cox talks Scream 7 status and hopes for Dewey’s comeback in new interview.
Despite all evidences, Courteney Cox is not officially confirmed for the cast of Scream 7. In a recently published article by Variety, Cox explained: “I’m not officially signed on. I’m not, but there will be a ‘Scream 7.’”
Usually, these decisions are either creative or financial, and it seems there are still some loose ends to tie up before a final decision is made: “They’re rewriting all the time. It’s not like I don’t know what’s going on.”
Cox also expressed her excitement about the film being directed by Kevin Williamson: “You can’t get better than that choice. It’s going to be fun.”
The eternal Gale Weathers also spoke about the fate of Dewey Riley, played by her ex-husband David Arquette, whose tragic end in Scream (2022) continues to sadden fans. “I understand the reasons they did it, but whoa! Talk about a missed character. Dewey is so loved by ‘Scream’ fans. They have to figure it out.”
It’s worth noting that the creative minds behind the films have found ways to bring characters like Billy, Kirby, and Randy back from the dead. All it takes is creativity…
David Arquette also shared his thoughts about Kevin Williamson’s return and how he feels about not being part of the next installment: “I’m really excited to see what Kevin does since he wrote the first one and he’s such a great filmmaker and artist and writer. How he understands that world, it’ll be really interesting to see his take on it and bringing the whole original crew back together, it is a very FOMO moment.”
