The Scream franchise is on the verge of a thrilling expansion, and we’re not just talking about Scream 7. According to the latest edition of Production Weekly, another feature film is now in development: an Untitled Scream Spinoff!

This project finally gives fan-favorite Kirby Reed (played by Hayden Panettiere) her moment in the spotlight. Kirby, the sole teenage survivor of the second Woodsboro murders in Scream 4, has become an icon among Gen Z fans.

Now an FBI agent, resurrected in Scream VI, Kirby will lead her own storyline, investigating a terrifying new wave of Ghostface attacks. This spinoff is set to explore darker, more twisted paths within the Scream Universe, possibly drawing thematic inspiration from The Following, another creation of Scream writer and Scream 7 director Kevin Williamson, which dealt with cult-like serial killers.

Meanwhile, Scream 7 is preparing to continue the franchise’s legacy. Filming is slated to begin filming in January 2025 in Atlanta, where original characters Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) will once again face the relentless Ghostface.

The delay from its original December 2024 production date has only heightened anticipation, as fans eagerly await how this latest installment will raise the stakes following the events of Scream VI.

Whether you’re rooting for Kirby Reed to outsmart her demons or anxiously awaiting what Ghostface has in store for Sidney and Gale, one thing is certain—2025 will be exciting for Scream fans everywhere.
