Scream fans felt the tremor before they saw the headline.
A few hours ago, music editor Matthew Llewellyn quietly celebrated the end of Scream 5’s post-production with a photo — one he promptly erased — revealing nothing less than the film’s finalized title card. A blink-and-you-missed-it moment, but enough to send the fandom spiraling.
The tribute doesn’t stop at the credits. The film also introduces a character named in his honor: Wes Hicks, played by Dylan Minnette — a nod subtle enough to be sweet, but meaningful enough to land with longtime fans.
#ForWes takes over
The announcement — and the now-iconic hashtag #ForWes — spread quickly, embraced not only by the entire fandom but also by Marianne Maddalena, Craven’s friend and producer of the original saga, who echoed the celebration in her Instagram Stories.
