Mason Gooding officially returns as Chad Meeks-Martin for Scream 7, continuing his scream king rise amidst the franchise’s new direction.
Ghostface isn’t done with the Meeks-Martin family just yet. Mason Gooding has officially signed on to reprise his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in the upcoming Scream 7, sources confirm.
Gooding, one-fourth of the Core Four, comes back amidst the franchise’s recent ups and downs—production delays, creative overhauls, and an unexpected change in the franchise’s direction. However, Chad’s character remains a standout, earning fan-favorite status and surviving Ghostface’s brutal attacks not once, but twice in Scream (2022) and Scream VI.
His reappearance signals stability for the legacy cast as Scream 7 while venturing into new territory under Kevin Williamson’s direction—his first time stepping behind the camera for the franchise he created.
What About Mindy?
Jasmin Savoy Brown shut down rumors of her involvement during CCXP 2024 when speaking to CinePop. However, according to Variety, she has not officially signed on yet, leaving the door open for negotiations. Given the sibling dynamic established in the previous films, Mindy’s absence would leave a noticeable void for fans.
This review on the Core Four could signal an attempt to anchor Scream 7 closer to the stabilized ensemble introduced in the requels. And if there’s one thing we’ve learned throughout the Scream franchise, it’s to never say never. A thunderous comeback could always be lurking around the corner…
Scream 7’s Growing Cast
With Neve Campbell back as Sidney Prescott and Courteney Cox reportedly circling her return as Gale Weathers, Scream 7 is shaping up to be a reunion of epic proportions. New faces like Isabel May—confirmed to play Sidney’s daughter—McKenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, and Asa Germann are also onboard, ensuring this installment will blend familiar bloodlines with fresh victims… or killers.
The involvement of Mason Gooding also marks a pivotal point in his “scream king” career. With a string of horror projects under his belt—including the recent Y2K and the upcoming Heart Eyes (directed by Josh Ruben, written by Christopher Landon, Michael Kennedy and Phillip Murphy)—Gooding solidifies himself as a mainstay in the genre.
