Kevin Williamson’s upcoming TV show might have more subtle connections to the Scream franchise than we initially thought—specifically to Scream 2. While the connections aren’t direct, they’re the kind that would make Sister Murphy (Portia de Rossi) proud, invoking a six-degrees-of-Kevin-Bacon scenario. Interestingly enough, Kevin Bacon has been cast as the FBI agent chasing (or being chased by) a cult-creating serial killer in this new thriller. Reports suggest that James Purefoy is likely to play the criminal mastermind at the center of this deadly network.
Yesterday, Williamson revealed on Twitter that he’s been scouting locations for his future show, hinting at a familiar spot:
“Scouted a certain campus today. @wescraven It was like old times. Guess where? Hint: Where Randy bit it.”
Fans quickly pieced together the clue. Williamson seems to have visited Windsor College, the setting for Scream 2. While Windsor College in the film is fictional, the real location is Agnes Scott College, a women-only university located at 141 East College Avenue, Decatur, Georgia.
It’s heartening to see Williamson reminiscing about Scream 2 and revisiting locations tied to the franchise. His fondness for Windsor College adds an exciting layer to the new show, especially for Scream fans eager to spot hidden references and connections.
In other news, the show’s cast continues to grow. Recent additions include Valorie Curry (Breaking Dawn – Part 2), joining an ensemble already headlined by Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy. With such a stellar lineup, Williamson’s new project is shaping up to be a must-watch.
